general Office Information
The history of CVT Surgical Center
(formerly Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Associates) and the
development of open-heart surgery in Baton Rouge have followed parallel
courses. Dr. Page W. Acree was the original member of the group. He
performed the first open-heart surgery in Baton Rouge in 1957 and the
first coronary artery bypass in 1971. He was also the first surgeon in
the Gulf South to implant a cardiac pacemaker. Dr. Acree retired from
private practice in 1983. We are very proud of Dr. Acree's
accomplishments and strive to continue his legacy of care and concern
for our patients.
Since it's founding by Dr. Acree, CVT Surgical Center
has grown to include a staff of five cardiovascular and thoracic
surgeons, and three vascular surgeons providing surgical care of heart,
vascular and lung disorders.
Diagnostic Services
CVT Vascular Lab is our non-invasive
laboratory. Our Registered Vascular Technologists use advanced imaging
(ultrasound) and peripheral vascular evaluation equipment to perform
several procedures. The procedures aid the physician in detecting,
identifying and evaluating a variety of vascular conditions.
CVT Vascular Lab also provides
non-invasive vascular testing at hospitals, private clinics and nursing
homes in the Baton Rouge area and throughout southeast Louisiana.
