CVT Surgical Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Azeem Khan to its cardiothoracic
surgical staff. Dr. Khan is an alumnus of McKinley High School and received his
undergraduate degree at LSU in Baton Rouge. He attended LSU Medical School
in Shreveport, completed a general surgery residency at LSU in New Orleans and
recently completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Emory University in
Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Khan gained additional experience in minimally invasive transcatheter
aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in Leipzig, Germany and endovascular surgery
at the Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He participated in cardiac
surgery research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia at the University of
Pennsylvania. His interests include open and endovascular aortic surgery, traditional
and minimally invasive valve procedures, off-pump, robotic and hybrid coronary
artery bypass surgery.
CVT has been a leader in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery in Baton Rouge
since 1959. With the addition of Dr. Khan, CVT’s surgical staff grows to six
cardiothoracic and four vascular surgeons.
