Dr. Sheely is Board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Sheely is a native of Dallas, Texas. He attended Louisiana State University and the University of Texas where he graduated with honors in 1967. Dr. Sheely served as Commander of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, Virginia. He completed his medical training at the Baylor College of Medicine in 1973. His internship and general surgery residency were at the Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston. Dr. Sheely was a resident in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery with Dr. Michael E. DeBakey at the Baylor Affiliated Hospitals finishing in 1979.  Dr. Sheely has been in practice with CVT since 1979.
