Dr. R. Scott Thurston is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Thurston is a native of New York State.   He received a B.A. in biology with honors from Rice University in 1975. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas in 1978. Dr. Thurston served an internship and residency in general surgery at the Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston finishing in 1984. He was then a thoracic and cardiovascular surgery resident completing his fellowship in 1986 with Dr. Michael E. DeBakey. Dr. Thurston has been a member of CVT Surgical Center since 1988.
