 Since its inception in 1971 CVT Surgical Center has grown to be the leader in cardiac surgery in Louisiana. Performing cardiac surgery at the major
hospitals in Baton Rouge, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, and Baton Rouge General Medical Center, the cardiac surgery division now
performs more cardiac surgical procedures than any practice in the State.
Currently with 5 cardiac surgeons, over 1000 major operations are performed
each year. Our practice has 35 years of expertise in coronary artery bypass,
aortic and mitral valve replacement, mitral valve repair, thoracic aortic
dissection and aneurysm repair, repair of left ventricular aneurysm, treatment
of rhythm disorders, and evaluation and management of chest injury.
Newer efforts focus on off pump bypass, use of the radial artery, left ventricular
remodeling and ablation of atrial arrythmias. Since 1980 extensive statistics
have been kept for
each procedure and our current results are 60% better the the national database
averages.
